Wayne ARC announces an opening for an IT Specialist. This position provides technical assistance concerning the use of computer hardware and software to agency employees in person, via telephone, or using electronic communication methods.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Facilitates and manages employee account access to the agency IT systems, coordinating access control changes along with staffing additions and terminations.
  • Provides helpdesk support. Answers inquiries regarding computer software or hardware operation to resolve problems. Escalates problems to specific support resources and identifies roadblocks to management.
  • Sets up equipment for employee use, performing or ensuring proper installation of cables, operating systems, or appropriate software where needed.
  • Assist with the configuration and management of agency telephone systems, including setup and maintenance of user telephones and voice mail accounts.
  • Provides support for hosted software services and databases
  • Develops training materials and documentation in order to help employees use agency systems, reduces risk levels of recovering from disasters and to assist coworkers in supporting others.
  • Travels to agency sites for physical hardware support, user training, or problem resolution defined by helpdesk requests or departmental projects.
  • Attends conferences, seminars and training as required.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends as needed
  • Performs other duties as assigned

 Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED and 2 years of experience in a computer support role.
  • Other combinations of education and experience may be considered
  • Must possess a current, valid New York State Driver's License that meets the Agency driver standards.

 Desired Skills:

  • Technical knowledge of telephone systems, computers and related equipment.
  • Proficiency with Windows desktop management (renaming, domain adds/removals, IP addressing, adding/removing printers, etc.)
  • Fundamental understanding of Microsoft Active Directory
  • Self-motivating with the ability to maintain and organize workloads and schedules.
  • Ability to multi-task and adapt to changes quickly
  • Good organizational and analytical skills.
  • Strong customer service with an ability to communicate technical information to non-technical staff.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and climb a ladder as needed
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Access, VMWare, Windows Server, and Microsoft Exchange a plus

Hours:  Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Work Location:  150 Van Buren Street, Newark, NY 14513
